Amazon Kicks Off Amazing One-Hour Delivery; Drones Next?

Don’t ya just hate to order things online and have to wait til they arrive?

Have always loved how Amazon ships things so fast — and their $35 “free shipping” threshold is good (liked it better when it was $25, though).

Now, the company’s expanded ONE-HOUR delivery in New York City to designated zip codes in two other locations — Baltimore and Miami — between the hours of 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Although there’s a $7.99 fee for one-hour delivery, two-hour service is free to Amazon Prime members who pay a $99 annual fee — and membership includes free two-day shipping on purchases of any price as well as a lot of digital content and other perks.

And even more innovation is underway!

The Federal Aviation Administration recently gave Amazon authority to test drones (“the Prime air unmanned project”) for outdoor delivery purposes.

Can’t you picture it? You place an order online, grab a snack and wash your face, the doorbell rings, you open the door, and your purchase is on the welcome mat. A friendly drone beeps and flies away into the sunset…

Gotta love it. It’s so like the Jetsons.
