If you own and use an Amazon Echo or an Amazon Dot like I do, you’re probably pretty impressed with the things Alexa can do. And now Amazon is introducing a follow-up product that sounds intriguing. The new Amazon Echo Look hands-free camera and style assistant appeals to the inner worrier in all of us. It’s available by invitation only as of April 2017 and currently priced at $199.
When you put an outfit on in the morning, it’s hard to tell how it really looks — from the front, side and rear — even if you twist and turn in front of a mirror.
Sometimes your outfit looks fine at home and then you get to work or an evening out and take a longer look in the full-length restroom mirror — and, horror of horrors, you discover you look horrible! You have a runner in your hose, you have a visible panty line, your skirt or pants are baggy, and on and on.
Amazon Echo Look is a rounded rectangular-shaped device that contains a voice-activated camera with built-in lighting, and also has the features of Amazon Echo and Amazon Dot (digital assistant, music player, etc.)
The thing that’s new and exciting about the Look is you stand in front of it and ask it to take your photo, or even a 360 degree video, and it captures your full-length image, blurring the background to focus on the clothes you’re wearing. You can easily view it afterwards and see how you really look from every angle.
The Style Assistant feature lets you take pictures of — and compare — the way you look in two different outfits, and the device even expresses an opinion on which outfit looks better, based on fit, color and other factors.
And a related phone app lets you browse your outfits anytime, which might be handy when shopping for new clothes.
Does this sound great or what?
Now we have an impartial observer to candidly answer the question women have been asking for thousands of years, “Does my butt look big in this outfit?”
