In a quest to save money, go green and stop buying bottled water (which is something I swore I’d never do…but somehow got hooked on), I’ve tried a bunch of different water bottles.
Each one had a flaw. It failed to keep the water cold, made the water taste plastic-y, contained BPA, sweated or dripped. Couldn’t find anything that was superior to refrigerated bottled water.
That is, until I finally located the perfect product — the Flylady metal water bottle.
Took the 12-oz. bottle with me for a day of visiting friends and running errands on one of the hottest days of the year in the deep South. Filled it halfway with ice, then added water at 9 a.m. when I left the house.
Ten hours later, after it sat in the car (with black interior) all day when the temperature was 98 degrees and the heat index was 110, I opened the bottle and took a sip. The water was ice cold!
The car was parked in the sun and un-air-conditioned at least five hours while I hung out with two separate sets of friends, and the rest of the time the AC was on and off intermittently while I went into a bunch of stores to do errands and shop.
And there was no condensation on the outside of the bottle. It was absolutely astounding!
If you’re looking for a great water bottle, try this one. (It also comes in a 16-oz. size.)
The price is reasonable, and the shipping is incredibly quick (it arrived three days after I ordered it online from the Flylady website).
The bottle has a nice wide mouth, making inserting ice cubes easy, and it comes with six colored ties to wrap around it, in case more than one family member uses the same type bottle and you need to tell them apart.
The Flylady water bottle gets two thumbs up from me as the best purchase of the year. Whether you’re drinking water to hydrate and/or lose weight, or to stay cool — it’s a winner.

You’ll be amazed. I was, even after reading all the testimonials!
Wow that’s amazing that the bottle kept the water cool in that sort of heat. I have a metal container that can be used for hot/cold and I love it. I may have to give this one a try too.
