A lot of women find joy in do-it-yourself crafts… and I’m one of them.
So many crafts, so little time!
Maybe craft mania started from being a Camp Fire Girl in the 60s and learning a new activity at every meeting (my mom was the troop leader and I remember her scrambling for unique craft ideas). The fact that she displayed my clumsy “creations” throughout the house — and wore the clothes I sewed for her after I learned to sew in junior high — encouraged me to try even more things.
The following list reveals all the craft “phases” I’ve been through…so far.
- Ceramics
- Knitting
- Crocheting
- Art journaling
- Sewing
- Paper cutting (Scherenschnitte)
- Applique
- Papier-mache
- Calligraphy
- Scrapbooking (paper) / December Daily / digitital scrapbooking
- Stenciling
- Wreath making
- Jewelry making
- Macrame
- Floral design/ flower arranging
- Rug hooking
- Weaving (potholders, as a kid!)
- Crewel
- Embroidery
- Needlepoint
- Quilting
- Origami
- Decoupage
- Photography / photo a day
- Journaling
- String art
- Quilling
- Zentangle
- Artistic lettering
- Rubber stamping
And there will, no doubt, be more!
How could anyone browse Pinterest and not want to make all the cute things you see there?!
Hi, Diane,
Since I retired, it seems like I’m taking a lot of classes that are crafty. I took a class to make decorations with holiday greens at Phipps, and I’m taking a flower arranging class there now. I took a cookie making class in the Strip district, and I signed up for a cake decorating class next month! It’s been fun!
Sounds like fun!
Well that’s some list! Crafting is fun for sure!
