My freezer was a jumbled mess! And it was the only part of my kitchen I hadn’t decluttered as part of my 2016 decluttering project.
I had no idea how to organize a freezer, either — but browsing Pinterest photos and articles saved the day.
The first step was to buy some plastic containers wide enough to hold frozen veggie boxes (and fit through the freezer door; mine opens to the left and runs into the door from the kitchen to the garage, so the opening isn’t very wide). I got six shoebox-sized bins at the dollar store.
Then, I took everything out and got rid of outdated and unwanted foods.
Sorted the remaining foods by type, so likes were with likes (frozen veggies, ice cream/desserts, bread/muffins/bagels, etc.) and placed as many things as possible neatly in the bins.
What a difference! Makes me smile every time I open the freezer. I only wish I’d done it sooner!
If you haven’t decluttered your freezer for a while — or ever, like me! — pick up some plastic containers and go for it. It takes less than an hour and the results are well worth the effort!
